Baby Steps - Harris

The first steps to pure epicness... Not sure if that's a word...

Our initial idea was a survivor zombie movie. An action-thriller with special effects. The plot would be that of a typical teen-horror in which a group of 'misfits' would be chucked into an impossible situation and have to overcome it through teamwork. We chose this because the target audience can identify with some of the insecurities that would have been portrayed through the characters.

After much speculation we realised that it wasn't practical as the effects needed were too time consuming to make and many actors would be needed. We wanted to keep acting to a minimum as we saw how the previous years epicly failed at their attempts.

We still wanted to keep the special effects going but with more of a story driven trailer. We then stumbled upon neo-film noir and saw through movies such as Sin City, how many effects could be used whilst keeping the plot strong.

The plots that we came up with then were too unrealistic and had too much depth to portray.
So we came to the conclusion of a more action oriented trailer as three minutes wouldn't be enough to give the gist of the plot we had in mind.

In the end it was a group decision to change to our new story now which will kick every other production's ass. Amen...
